Dear Parents and Students,
As you may know, there have been two situations that have happened recently that have impacted my ability to have grades entered on a timely basis and to provide specific, detailed guidelines for each project choice given to students. First, unfortunately, the student teacher I hosted this semester did not complete her internship, and after her departure I realized that work I was told had been graded outside of class, in fact, had not been. This left me with over 450 essays to grade, as well as a test, a vocabulary quiz, and a couple of daily grades. Secondly, the week after Thanksgiving I became very ill, and on the day I was to return to class, my husband was unexpectedly hospitalized with heart problems. Thankfully, he is now home recuperating, and I am well. In the meantime, I understand everyone wants to know his or her grade to determine whether or not to exempt this class, and I also want to provide this information. I can only promise that I am working absolutely as hard as I can to grade all outstanding work and enter it in Synergy. I have also been addressing my student's request for more detailed guidelines than what was listed in the original project handout provided before Thanksgiving. Putting these together is very time-consuming and requires thoughtful consideration to make each project as "equal" as possible. Thus far, I have uploaded seven projects, but in order to continue grading outstanding work and updating Synergy, I will not be able to create any more until Thursday evening or Friday. Therefore, I am postponing the following: Projects: I will collect all projects on Monday AND give everyone the 5 bonus points. I will provide time for students to work on their projects and/or rationale in class on Friday. Test: I will postpone the King Arthur test until Monday, so that students can work in class to complete any questions and review/study with one another to prepare for the test. I hope this helps to allay any anxiety you may have: my goal is to always be as fair as possible and do what is best for my students! Very sincerely, Mrs. Nena Greene Comments are closed.
