Chorus (From Greek drama) a group of singers or actors who stand alongside or off stage from
the actors in a dramatic or musical performance. Their purpose is to comment on the
deeds of the characters and interpret the significance of the events within the play.
Shakespeare alters this by replacing the chorus with a single figure. In Romeo and Juliet,
the chorus is one actor who narrates the Prologue.
