You MUST print your paper before coming to class. If you run out of ink or have printer problems, then you can come early to school and print in the Media Center. If you have class after lunch, then you have another opportunity to print your paper. Students who do not have the printed copy of their paper in class will lose 5 points from the essay grade. Big Fish test is Wednesday, April 20. Remember to turn in your handwritten, completed study guide for bonus points.
Two Newsela.com articles are due by Friday. The following is the schedule for writing our paper: Thursday: 2 body paragraphs in class (finish for homework) They MUST be HANDWRITTEN! If you bring a Typed copy I will TEAR IT UP and you will have to Re-write it. Friday: Rebuttal and conclusion paragraphs – again, HANDWRITTEN. Due at the end of class. Monday: Introduction – due at the end of class. HOMEWORK: Type your essay, then read and revise before printing. Bring printed copy to class Tuesday. Tuesday: Works Cited instruction and peer revision. I am also available for specific questions during class. HOMEWORK Revise and re-type final draft. Print and bring copy to class tomorrow. Submit electronic copy of essay to Turnitin.com Instructions to follow. Wednesday: Final copy of essay, corrected Works Cited page, and rubric stapled on top. Thursday: EOC practice test in class. Friday: EOC practice test in class. Monday: (5/1) Touchstone Assessment Tuesday: Introduce Julius Caesar. Wednesday: Begin the Odyssey. This week we will read Big Fish both in and out of class, so bring your copy every day.
Reading and test schedule: Monday: 1-49 in class Tuesday: 59-85 in class and home Wednesday: 86-105 at home Thursday: 106-140 in class and home Friday: 141-180 in class and home Test: Wednesday, April 20 Vocabulary packet for Unit 10 exercises this week. Quiz will be Friday, April 15. Study Guide: This is optional; however, if you complete it independently and completely by hand (no typewritten guides will be accepted) you can earn bonus points on your test. Begin activity over Fate vs. Human Error for Romeo and Juliet persuasive essay. Newsela.com article "Baseball or Calculus" is due by Friday, April 15.
